CSX Locomotive #1900 is officially here, honoring the Seaboard Air Line Railroad (SAL)! When the SAL was established in 1900, an ‘air line’ referred to the shortest, straight-line distance between two points rather than air travel. SAL’s rail network contributed greatly to the economic development of the Southeastern United States until the railroad merged with the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad in 1967 to become the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad, and eventually part of CSX.
