Aug 28, 2011 · From looking through threads here, I couldn't find any conclusive statements. So I tweeted at Igloo coolers and they responded that all Igloo products are BPA-free. In fact, they seem to be aware of homebrewers' use of their products, as this was their reply: @IglooProducts: All of our products are BPA-free! Igloo Coolers are great for homebrewing.

Apr 26, 2009 · With my 5 gallon igloo, I tend to lose 2-3 degrees in a 60 minute mash. But have been quite happy with it and do not regret buying igloo over Rubbermade. Only reason I went with Igloo is because they were much cheaper than the rubbermade's I found. And by much cheaper I mean $25 cheaper.

But to answer your question, all the coolers will convert the same (i.e., same valve, etc) You also probably want to stay away from the 7 gal cooler if you are doing 10 gallon batches and/or big beers. (O.G. > 1.080 or so).

Dec 21, 2008 · I have done several step mashes in my igloo. Start with a fairly thick mash (.75 - 1 qt per pound), and reduce your sparge water a little if you have to. Play with the mash calculator tool mentioned above, keeping notes on total water added. Takes some fiddling, but works. If you want a mash-out, do a quick decoction (just to boiling).

Jul 23, 2012 · He ended up calling Igloo customer service and they advised that their coolers are not 'food grade' and not suitable for hot liquids. This lead me to call Coleman (the brand I use). Interestingly, they confirmed that their interiors are polypropylene, are food safe, and withstand temps over 220 deg. easily.

Jul 4, 2008 · The 70 qt Igloo Ice Cube will not fit two of my 2.5 gal kegs. The 2.5 is 9" in dia vs 8" for most 3 gal. Interior dimensions of the 70 qt are approximately 17.5 (H) x 14.5 (D) x 16.5 (W) plus add about 3 inches in the lid to the useable height.
