Operated by the nonprofit Detroit Zoological Society, the Detroit Zoo is one of Michigan’s largest paid family attractions, hosting 1.3 million guests annually. More than 2,000 animals of more than 200 species call the Zoo’s 125 acres home.

The new Detroit Zoo logo features a powerful storytelling design. The Os in “Zoo” unite, inviting you to an extraordinary world where all can thrive. The Belle Isle Nature Center’s logo pairs two leaf-inspired shapes that symbolize the connection between people and urban wildlife.
Live Cam - Detroit Zoo
The Detroit Zoo’s Polk Penguin Conservation Center is home to five species of penguins — kings, macaronis, gentoos, southern rockhoppers and chinstraps. You visit them every day on their live cam page.

Seasonal Hours: Fall/Winter: Open: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Gates close at 3:30 p.m. Spring/Summer: Open: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Gates close at 4:30 p.m.
