We already knew Giganto would be part of the parallel universe that The Fantastic Four inhabit before they cross over into the MCU (more on this shortly). Indeed, Giganto features on the cover a forthcoming First Steps prequel comic book that acts as an origins story for the titular team and how they acquired their superpowers.

Marvel is reportedly already planning a sequel to The Fantastic Four: First Steps, despite the upcoming blockbuster still being more than a month from launch. A Variety report states that an untitled Fantastic Four follow-up is one of several currently undated Marvel projects in development,

The Fantastic Four comic was an instant hit and it essentially allowed Marvel to keep the lights on, giving it the time to create other iconic heroes like Spider-Man and the Hulk. It is somewhat fitting to take the characters back to the beginning for their MCU debut.
