National Guard troops arrived in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday morning following a couple of days marked by violent clashes between law enforcement officers and protesters over President Trump's immigration enforcement operations conducted in the area.

A leader of one of the biggest unions in California was arrested amid protests against federal immigration raids in the Los Angeles area.

A local immigrant rights organization said more than 45 people were detained in the operations, which were described as “random sweeps.”
