The ICE U.S. Dollar Index was up 0.4% in recent trading after the latest reports about President Donald Trump's tariff plans. The index stood at 108.10 in recent trading. The euro, meanwhile, was off by 0.5% at $103, while the dollar was modestly lower against the Japanese yen.

The blame for the Dow being down so much, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq are rising, can be put on two stocks, those of Honeywell and Salesforce.
