Britain said it would revoke accreditation for a Russian diplomat in response to a similar move by Russia earlier this week against British diplomats.

The expulsion follows a systemic campaign of coercion and harassment against UK diplomats in Moscow as "rogue state" Russia tries to force embassies to quit the country.

Wind direction at this time of year is really influential to our weather. At the beginning of March, southerly winds brought warmer air up from the tropics to bring above average temperatures across the UK. With a switch in wind direction to a northerly this week, the - still very cold - Arctic winds will bring temperatures below average.

The weather warning is in place from 3am to 9am on Thursday and follows on from showers throughout Wednesday night. Those in the area covered by the warning have been urged to take care while travelling in case of icy surfaces.

A yellow weather warning for ice has been issued across parts of the UK on Thursday. Forecasters said the East Midlands, North East England, North West England and Yorkshire and Humber will be affected between 3 and 9am tomorrow morning.
