St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and organizers of the St. Patrick’s Day parade are excited to share their hard work and dedication with the community.

Young and old community members thronged the sidewalks for over a mile, imbibing Irish stouts, ales and nonalcoholic drinks as well as noshing on snacks — both Irish and not-so-Irish.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Every step members of the Pride Center of Staten Island took along the parade route on Sunday created a historic march down Forest Avenue in West Brighton that will be remembered for years to come.

For the first time, the Pride Center of Staten Island held its own banner and joined the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Sunday marked an end to the 60-year ban on LGBTQ+ groups marching in Staten Island’s St.

Noreen Hansen is the Grand Marshal of the 2025 Staten Island St. Patrick's Day Parade. The aides to the Grand Marshal are Cynthia Donnelly, Diane Gruberger, Barbara Shields, and Brian Walsh. The inaugural businessman of the year is Jack LiGreci.

Parade attendees said celebrating Irish heritage, enjoying music and the costumes bring them back every year.

And while the weather on Sunday mirrored that ancient name, thousands of rosy-cheeked, green-clad Staten Islanders still turned out to celebrate the 61st Staten Island St. Patrick’s Parade in West Brighton.
