There may be a break in a more than half-century-old cold case after central Minnesota authorities discovered human remains in a car submerged in the Mississippi River on Wednesday.

A 1963 Buick pulled from the Mississippi River contained human remains and may solve the 1967 disappearance of Sauk Rapids man Roy Benn. The Buick’s VIN, license plate, and serial number matched Benn’s car.

Investigators believe the human remains are connected to an unsolved 1967 missing person case involving a man named Roy Benn.
