By Michel Rose PARIS (Reuters) -French President Emmanuel Macron said on Sunday he was visiting Greenland to show French and European Union solidarity with the Arctic island after U.S. President Donald Trump's threats to take it over.
The French president made a six-hour visit to the Danish autonomous territory on his way to the G7 in Canada. Emmanuel Macron said that Greenland is 'not to be sold' nor 'to be taken,' saying he was conveying a message of French and European solidarity.
PARIS (Reuters) -Greenland is a European territory and it is normal that Europe and France show their interest, French Foreign Minister Jean Noel Barrot told RTL radio on Sunday when asked about French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to the Arctic island.
