LIV Golf players will have their own exemption category for the Open Championship starting with the 2025 edition. This was announced by the R&A, the governing body that organizes the current fourth major of the season, one of the most important tournaments in the world golf calendar.

The British Open will also offer a direct pathway for LIV Golf players to get into the field for a major championship, the R&A announced Monday.

Days after the United States Golf Association (USGA) unveiled a new set of U.S. Open exemptions for LIV Golf players, The R&A released a set of their own for golf’s oldest major championship. The leading player not otherwise exempt,
