Hundreds rally in Atlanta's Liberty Plaza for 'No Kings' to protest Trump's policies. Chants of 'Immigrants are welcome here' echoed loudly.

That’s part of why George Atkinson, a former high school government teacher, felt compelled to join a protest in downtown Houston on Saturday. The 89-year-old affixed a sign to his walker that read, “The clothes have no emperor! He’s all hat and no cattle!”

Minutes after Atlanta’s “No Kings” protest began, organizers announced that the venue’s 5,000-person capacity had been reached.

Another wave of protests is set to take place across Georgia this weekend as part of a national day of action against the Trump administration.

Opponents of President Donald Trump's administration are set to rally in Atlanta and hundreds of cities across the U.S. on Saturday during the military parade in Washington for the Army's 250th anniversary — which coincides with Trump's birthday.

The demonstrations follow more than a week of large-scale protests in Los Angeles against Mr. Trump’s immigration crackdown and his decision to deploy the military there. Protesters gathered in Liberty Plaza outside of the Georgia State Capitol in Downtown Atlanta.

Thousands of residents from across metro Atlanta mobilized on Saturday morning for the “No Kings” rallies against the actions of the Trump administration. A rally in DeKalb County at the corner of Northcrest and Chamblee Tucker roads ended in tear gas being deployed when protesters tried to block the road and were met by police in riot gear.

More than 5,000 people are expected to crowd into Liberty Plaza on Saturday morning as part of the demonstration.
