Mel's Hot Dogs opened in 1973 and quickly became a Tampa tradition in the University, Temple Terrace area. The new owners bought the location 2 years ago and have fond memories of the restaurant.

Pinellas County's beaches were flattened by the triple whammies of Hurricanes Debby, Helene and Milton last year. Now, a new ordinance may give what's left of its dunes a fighting chance.
