Q • I have a question about strawberries. I have mine screened in with a tight mesh to keep birds and squirrels out, but I have a feeling that I may be defeating myself if they are insect-pollinated.

I planted my own strawberries last year and for all the work that went into it, I probably realized maybe a quart of perfect red berries that had not been pecked at by birds and ravished by chipmunks.
