The FIFA Club World Cup has undergone a major revamp ahead of its 21st edition this summer.Instead of just seven teams playing a handful of matches in a confusing knockout format, the tournament now features 32 teams from around the world competing in a World Cup-style format.

When FIFA announced its plans for the expanded stateside Club World Cup, it looked to incentivize clubs, players and confederations with an enormous financial windfall. The prize money for the Club World Cup stands at an eye-opening $1 billion compared to the $16 million prize pool from 2023's version of the tournament.

Since then, the competition for the title of the world’s best club has stiffened somewhat. On June 14th the latest reincarnation of the Club World Cup kicks off in America, featuring 32 clubs from six continents.
