Odom is the brother of Purdue head coach Barry Odom. Brian Odom played with Heupel at Oklahoma in 2000, winning the 2000 Iron Man Award given by the Sooners' strength coaches. He was also Arizona's assistant director of performance enhancement in 2005, while Heupel was the Wildcats' tight ends coach.
