Shohei Ohtani is making his Los Angeles Dodgers pitching debut, 643 days after the two-way superstar had elbow surgery. Ohtani will start and pitch an inning or two against the San Diego Padres on Monday night in the series opener.

The team announced the two-way star will take the bump Monday against the San Diego Padres, but ESPN's Alden Gonzalez reported he's likely to only throw one or two innings "in what will basically amount to a continuation of his rehab."

Although he won the 2024 National League MVP award and helped the Dodgers win the World Series, Shohei Ohtani had only given the Dodgers half of their expected return on investment — until now.
