Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin is one of the most heralded players in NHL history. The legendary forward already has a ton of records on the NHL history books, but he's still chasing Wayne Gretzky's all-time goals record.

Alexander Ovechkin is officially on another one of his trademark goal-scoring heaters. He's scored eight goals in as many games played since Jan. 30. The 39-year-old captain of the Washington Capitals notched his 30th goal of the season on Tuesday in the third period against the Calgary Flames.

Ovechkin scored his 883rd goal to move within 12 of breaking Wayne Gretzky’s NHL record, but Washington fell, 3-1, to Calgary for its first regulation home defeat since November.
