Some Greenville-area Waffle Houses close because of ice storm
There are 12 Waffle House locations in the Greenville-area and as of 11 p.m. only the Powdersville location is available to place an online order.
"This is shaping up to be the most impactful storm of the winter so far," AccuWeather meteorologist Jonathan Porter said.
State officials said they are worried that the mix of ice and blustery wind will mean limbs could snap and fall on power lines.
At a staging center in Asheville, transportation workers have spent the week mixing brine and preparing large piles of salt and sand with a shovel truck. The goal is to prepare a stockpile of supplies that will help protect – and later remediate – roads from the dangerous snow and ice expected to arrive on Saturday morning.
