Republicans flipped two Senate seats on Tuesday, as Republican Ted Cruz won a third term in Texas. Democrat Angela Alsobrooks was declared the winner in Maryland's open Senate seat race.

Republicans won control of the Senate in Tuesday’s elections, gaining seats in West Virginia and Ohio. Other tight races remained too close to call in both the House and the Senate, as Democrats were hoping to win a House majority as voters across the nation cast ballots.
