Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre addressed the departure of two Conservative MPs for the first time at a news conference, saying he’s not changing his approach after floor-crossing MP Chris d’Entremont cited his leadership style as the reason he defected to the Liberals.

If it fails, the final make-or-break vote will be on the main motion in its original form, which asks the House to “approve, in general, the budgetary policy of the government,” and would take place after MPs return from the upcoming week-long parliamentary hiatus.

Debate on the subamendment would continue until Thursday evening, at which point it would be put to a vote, although not necessarily immediately — the parties could agree to defer it until MPs return from their upcoming week-long hiatus on Nov. 17.
