Palestinian medical officials say Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 31 people in the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours, including 11 at a makeshift cafeteria in an Israeli-declared humanitarian zone.

A designated "humanitarian zone" in the Gaza Strip is to be expanded and will include field hospitals, water and medication provision, a spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Monday, amid dire conditions in the war-ravaged Palestinian territory.

The Israel Defense Forces continued its intense airstrike and ground campaigns in Gaza -- particularly in the north of the strip -- and in Lebanon, with Israeli attacks on targets nationwide including in the capital Beirut.
