Academic and activist Cornel West, who is running for president as an independent candidate, won’t be on the ballot in Pennsylvania, the state Supreme Court decided on Monday in upholding a lower court’s ruling.

Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court on Monday upheld a lower court ruling that rejected a bid to get independent presidential candidate Cornel West on the ballot for the November election in the battleground state.

The Pa. Supreme Court decision cleared the way for counties to begin printing and sending out mail ballots. Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt has certified the official list of candidates.
