According to the weather service there have been 16 Level 4 risks forecasted two days out. The last time that happened in Alabama was April 10, 2024, and there was one confirmed tornado. There have been 35 moderate risks for Alabama in the Day 1 forecast, and the last one included just a sliver of west Alabama on Dec. 28, 2024.

Much of central Alabama for Saturday has been placed under a level four out of five threat for severe weather, an almost unprecedented listing, on a scale where five is considered to be the highest chances for severe weather. The rating occurs about once a year, said Jason Davis, meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Birmingham.

Some small hail is possible with these storms the rest of the state is dry with a mix of sun and clouds along with temperatures in the 70s.Showers and storms will fade early tonight.HIGH END SEVERE WEATHER THREAT: Alabamians will need to pay very close attention to the weather tomorrow night through Saturday night as a dynamic storm system will bring two rounds of severe thunderstorms to the state.
