The United States and Pakistan hailed a trade deal on Thursday that Islamabad said would lead to lower tariffs and increased investment, but without specifying the level of tariff to be levied on Pakistani exports.

President Trump announced a “massive” oil exploration partnership with Pakistan despite its lack of confirmed oil reserves. Energy analysts are skeptical, noting that Pakistan has never produced commercially viable offshore oil despite seismic surveys.

But Trump appears convinced, at least on his own social media platform, that Pakistan is sitting on huge oil reserves.
