Pakistan's ambassador to the U.S. said on Thursday that India and Pakistan have had contacts at the level of their respective National Security Councils, when asked if the nuclear-armed Asian neighbors had any ongoing lines of conversation.

Pakistan's US envoy Rizwan Sheikh told CNN that India and Pakistan have had contacts at the NSC level, amid rising tensions. As cross-border attacks intensify, the US has urged both nations to de-escalate and resume direct dialogue.

Pakistan's ambassador to the US said in an interview that limited contact between the two nations' National Security Councils but stressed that the onus of de-escalation lies with India.
