Border czar Tom Homan plans to increase ICE agents in sanctuary cities like New York, following a shooting by undocumented individuals.

The speculation follows "border czar" Tom Homan’s promise to “flood the zone” – New York City – with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. The threat followed last weekend’s shooting of an off-duty Customs and Border Protection agent at Fort Washington Park in Upper Manhattan.

The Justice Department on Thursday announced a lawsuit against New York City’s so-called sanctuary city policies, days after the Trump administration blamed those policies for the shooting of an off-duty US Customs and Border Protection officer in Manhattan.

The case filed Thursday is the latest attempt by the Trump administration to sanction New York City over its "sanctuary" policies. Earlier this year, the administration began to claw back tens of millions of dollars that had already been allocated by Congress in migrant-crisis reimbursements.

Adams is facing fierce resistance from the City Council as members seek to stop him from expanding the role of federal immigration agents in the city.
