South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace’s sexual abuse “victim hotline” was blasted by victim advocates for not actually functioning as a hotline should. Mace made a big to-do about the hotline Monday evening in a wild speech on the House floor in which she accused her ex-fiancé and three other men of sexual misconduct.

Deborah Freel, executive director of Tri-County S.P.E.A.K.S., a sexual assault resource center in Mace’s district, told Mother Jones point-blank that the number “isn’t a hotline" and shouldn't be called one.
